Overview
We are interested in the development of the existing research infrastructure of the Animal Care Facilities. Achievement of this goal leaded  to the following benefits:

  1. implementation of UE regulations concerning the use of animals for experimental research;
  2. development of research capabililties and improvement of quality of research
  3. increase of the potential to provide research services to industry or SME.

 

    The project with the title:  Upgrade of the animal care facilities and research infrastructure in ‘Victor Babes’ National Institute of Pathology” financed by the Contract 31/11 09 2007 , Programme -  Capacities , was designed to continue the process of upgrade started by  the project 140/2006 CEEX Programme -  Ministry of Education and Research that  was conceived to improve the capabilities to carry on experimental studies in  toxicology.

    The upgrade of the existing infrastructure included all kind of activities, from building up and repainting of department to acquisition of equipments designed to avoid animal pain during experimental procedures and to provide more accurate data. A derived objective was to obtain instruments for environmental monitoring during the activity of the animal care facility and to avoid pollution.

    Based on the EU regulations concerning the use of animals for experimental purposes, our country adapted the national legislative frame. The law 305/12.07.2006 promulgated by the 15 February 2006.is stating among others:

     

     

      1. - how animals have to be accommodated and how to be cared of in Animal Care Facility
      2. - facilities for reproduction, hosting and use of animals;
      3. - procedures to be applied and how authorization can be obtained for such units

     

    Upgrade of the research infrastructure using animal models by high technology equipments made  possible to reduce the number of animals used in the experimental procedures. The existing know how of our team can support the idea that the quality and diversity of services provides by the animal care facility might be increased. The resulting capabilities support development of complex national and european projects.

    Now, The Animal Care Facility contributes to the increase in the capacity of the Institute to implement projects in the are of basic sciences, as well as in applied research. It may contribute also to provide better services to the durg manufacturers or alimentary additives suppliers.

    The standard EN ISO/CEI 17025:2005 established procedures to be fulfilled in laboratories form technical point of view, concerning the management of quality.

     

    Animal Care Facility is an autonomous division and includes :

      persons carrying out animal experiments and experimental models  :

      • Savi Ileana – Biologist;
      • Paraschiv Maria – veterinary technician 

      persons taking care of animals:

      • Simion Gina,
      • Munteanu Mihaela,
      • Dumitru Magdalena ,
