All of the activities related to animals in the laboratory is carried out in accordance with the recognized principles of the Directive 2010/63/EU and domestic law. The Animal Husbandry lab holds a special area that allows the activities of: the breeding, maintenance, quarantine area, the animals in the experiment, the area for the procedure. The animals are housed in cages with free access to food and water, under controlled environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and light). The health of the animals is monitored on a daily basis by trained personnel and, from time to time by specific tests.
In the laboratory, Animal husbandry carries out the following activities:
- The production of laboratory animals, rats, mice, and rats.
- The activity of the test in vivo studies. Test in vivo studies it refers to the use of animals for experimental procedures for research grants or contracts for difference trading.
In the present day, in the laboratory, Biobază are housed mice (C57BL/6J strains, BALB/c) and rats (Wistar, Sprague Dawley) and mice with genetically-engineered from the Jackson Laboratory (Bar Harbor, ME, USA): B6.129S1-Cd36tm1Mfe/J, B6.129P2-Apoetm1Unc/J Kmt2atm2 (MLLT3)Thr/KsyJ, CAV1tm1Mls/J, etc.
The protocols for the in vivo studies can be provided at the request of the beneficiary, or may be agreed upon by the parties in the context of the laboratory.
