Cell Biology, Neurosciences and Experimental Myiology

research unit combining the expertise of a research team with a solid background in Cell Biology and Neurosciences.

Presently, our research activity focuses on understanding the cellular and molecular details of physiologic and pathologic mechanisms on 4 distinct research topics:

  • Leukemia: the mechanism of conversion of the preleukemic hematopoietic progenitors into leukemia initiating cells and the set-up of new methods for mutation detection to track minimal residual disease (MRD) and the chimerism after bone marrow transplant
  • Gut microbiota products involved in the development of Parkinson's disease
  • Skeletal muscle regeneration in normal and dystrophic muscle
  • Cancer research: epigenetic changes at histone tails induced by unsaturated fatty acids and the in vitro study of certain biological compounds derived from plants and their interaction with different types of cancer cells
